Academic Programs
Discover our unique blend of Montessori Method and International Baccalaureate (IB), creating a holistic educational experience that nurtures independent, curious, and globally-minded learners.

Montessori & IB
Independence
Montessori education empowers students to take control of their learning. Teachers guide rather than lecture, which helps children become more self-reliant and independent in their studies. This cultivates a sense of personal responsibility and the confidence to pursue knowledge proactively.
Mixed-Age Learning
In Montessori classrooms, kids of different ages learn together. This mix encourages children to observe and learn from each other, teaching valuable life skills like cooperation and acceptance. It reflects real-world social dynamics, preparing children to navigate diverse communities with grace and empathy.
International Focus
The aim of all IB programmes is to develop internationally-minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.
Inquiry & Exploration
Inquiry-based learning built on students’ individual knowledge and interests, which emphasizes learning ‘how to learn’ and ‘how to find out’, students have agency in their own learning.
Student-Centered
Teachers use many differentiated teaching strategies to support students’ learning. This can include working together in groups and using a variety of ways to show what they know.
Leadership Development
Students learn important qualities and duties beyond academics. They learn how to lead others and build projects and systems that aim to solve real-life problems, that will make an impact on their world.

Language Support
English Support
Our English as an Additional Language (EAL) program is embedded in the morning work cycle, following Montessori principles. It offers individualized language support in literacy, vocabulary, and sentence formation to support students who need additional help accessing the curriculum in English.
Latvian Studies
At IMSOL, we offer Latvian Studies starting at age 3 all the way through our elementary school in accordance with the curricular requirements set by the Latvian Ministry of Education and Science for international schools. Students participate in three hours of Latvian Studies per week, which includes learning the Latvian language, exploring Latvia's rich history, and deepening their understanding of the country's unique cultural heritage.
Home Language
We are proud to offer a Home Language Program in Ukrainian, Russian, Latvian, and Latvian as a Foreign Language. This program provides literacy support (reading and writing) in students' home languages and allows them to explore our units of inquiry in their native language.
"Children have a kind of instinct, a special sensibility, which urges them to acquire new words." — Dr. Maria Montessori
Additional Languages
We offer additional language opportunities to support students in becoming confident global communicators. Through engaging, interactive lessons, children explore French while developing cultural awareness and a love for multilingual learning. These programs complement our international environment and nurture open-minded, globally aware learners.
Enrichments
“The development of the body is as important as that of the mind, and physical education is not only a means to this end but it has a formative value of its own.”
— Dr. Maria Montessori
Music Class
Our music program is designed to develop a deep appreciation for different music genres and help students achieve personally meaningful musical goals. Students become acquainted with various types of music and learn about specific musicians. In our 6-9 class, the focus is on mastering basic music theory and applying it to real instruments like ukuleles, guitars, pianos, drums, and percussion.
Art Education
Our art program is all about respecting students as individual artists. We create an environment where students are encouraged to think independently and take creative risks while gaining a solid grasp of diverse art-making methods and materials. We integrate elements of the IB curriculum to help students make connections across various subjects.
Physical Education (P.E.)
Physical Education plays an essential role in a student overall development. It not only supports physical fitness but also enhances academic learning and well-being. A healthy and active student is more likely to be motivated and successful academically.
Foreign Language (9-12 Section)
As we expand to the 9-12 section, students will have the opportunity to learn a new language per the IB PYP Framework. Our enrichments aim to inspire a lifelong passion for these subjects, providing students with a well-rounded education that goes beyond the classroom.
After School Activities
From 15:30 to 16:15, students can enjoy outdoor playtime at the campus playground, supervised by a faculty member. We head back into the school at 16:15 and host a special activity session until 17:00, Monday through Friday.

Jiu-Jitsu
A dynamic martial arts class with Gracie Bara Jiu-Jitsu instructor, where children build strength, coordination, and self-confidence while learning discipline, respect, and self-defense skills in a safe and supportive environment.

Dance Club
A fun and energetic class where children explore movement, rhythm, and expression while improving coordination and confidence through different dance styles.
All after school activities are for an additional fee. You can sign up for additional after class activities by sending us an email: info@imsol.edu.lv
