IMSOL has grown out of two high-quality Montessori preschools. Our journey began in 2019 when we were founded as a preschool named Pirmie Soļi. As the demand for high-quality Montessori preschool exceeded our capacity, we opened a second preschool campus in 2022. As interest in continuing their children’s Montessori education beyond preschool grew among the parent population, we began the process of preparing to open a rigorous Montessori elementary school with English as the language of instruction.
2023 has been an exciting year for us, as we were authorized to operate as an international school by the Latvian Ministry of Education and Science. We also became an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP) candidate school*. Our commitment to providing a holistic and well-rounded education has led us to this exciting new phase of growth, as we prepare to introduce an elementary school for the 2024-2025 school year.
The International Montessori School of Latvia is a Candidate School* for the Primary Years Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that the International Montessori School of Latvia believes is important for our students.
*Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme, or the Career-related Programme (CP).
