The most important period of life is not the age of university studies, but the first one, the period from birth to the age of six.

Dr. Maria Montessori

Our Preschool program (Ages 2.5 – 6) combines the Montessori Method and IB PYP Early Years* framework, creating a rich and individualized learning experience. We emphasize child-centered learning and incorporate the rigorous, inquiry-based curriculum of the IB PYP Early Years. Our mixed-age classroom fosters empathy, teamwork, and social skills as children learn from both teachers and from one another.

Our Montessori classroom is thoughtfully designed with child-friendly furniture and a wide array of hands-on learning materials. These materials are carefully curated to be both engaging and developmentally appropriate, guiding students through key concepts at their own pace. Natural light, open spaces, and a connection to nature are hallmarks of our setting. We strive to create an ambiance where children feel safe, nurtured, and eager to explore.

Connecting with the natural world is a vital part of our program. We place a strong emphasis on outdoor play and learning from nature, allowing children to explore the wonders of the world around them. This outdoor education encourages an appreciation for the environment, physical activity, and creativity.

Our robust home language support program ensures that students develop proficiency in both English and their home language, aligning with our commitment to multilingualism and the IB values. For students who don’t speak Latvian at home, we offer the opportunity to learn Latvian as a foreign language. By valuing home languages and diverse families, we promote respect and open expression, reaffirming each child’s inherent worth and unique journey.

The PYP Early Years program* at IMSOL is designed for children aged 3-6, focusing on inquiry-based learning that aligns with the IB Learner Profile attributes. Through practical activities and guided exploration, children gain foundational knowledge in core subjects while developing qualities like inquisitiveness, thoughtfulness, and communication. Our approach nurtures young learners to become caring, open-minded, and balanced individuals, laying the groundwork for their future educational journey. Below is the PYP Program of Inquiry for Ages 3-6.

Naptime / Arts and Crafts

Depending on the age level, some students take a nap while others who have transitioned away from daytime napping instead participate in arts and crafts activities.
