How gadgets affect a child’s natural desire to learn

The child construct his own personality during the first six years of life. And this age is extremely important for developing brain, body, essential skills and abilities. During this period the child need to explore how to use his main instruments in the life: his hands and his brain.

For human brain there is a few important features: to recognize and to memorize objects and conceptions, to give them names and to have contact and connection to the real life.

If the child at this age from 0 – 6 years, when the brain needs to have direct contact to the real world, to use the motor skills of the hands, to use all the senses of perception, and actively using language does not follow its call of nature and does not become a researcher and creator of himself, but spends time in the Internet or by watching bright cartoons or fast-changing pictures of the video. Then the child’s natural potential for self-development is severely limited.

When the child uses the Internet and video instead of real life, he no longer needs to memorize information because it rushes past in a high-speed stream.

The child no longer needs to remember something; the machine will do it for him.

A growing person loses the motivation and will to move forward and acquire knowledge that naturally develops himself.

The development of motor skills and physical abilities are slowing down.

And thus the child misses his natural windows of opportunity for growth, so the sensitive periods are limited to 6 years and this time cannot be returned back.

The Internet and video for the child at this age greatly affect the psyche and create a false idea of the world. It can lead to phobias and fears, contribute to the disruption of the healthy development of the psyche and socialization.

The Internet, games and watching TV are not necessary for the children of this age, they hinder their natural and healthy development.

A better solution would be to replace screen time with time spent with an adult:

  • to go together for a leisurely walk,
  • to do cooking or cleaning together,
  • to read a book,
  • to sing the songs or dance,
  • to draw a picture,
  • to conduct a science experiment at home.

Believe us, this time spent together will be a precious gift for you and for your child.
